Making Spell Checker Work for You

$Account.OrganizationName
Greetings!
Spellchecker Working for You!
Add unusual names to spellchecker

Are you tired of Microsoft Word underlining your last name, Ullenschlagersmth, in red? Or perhaps you use medical or technical terms in your writing and spellchecker doesn't recognize them either. You can "teach" Word your vocabulary and stop that nasty underline. (Doesn't it make you feel like a third grader whose teacher got carried away with the red pencil?)

The next time you type a document in Microsoft Word and it underlines a word you use frequently, RIGHT click the word. A shortcut menu will appear. LEFT click Add to Dictionary. You've done it! That word will never be underlined again. (In Microsoft Works use the same steps as above, but when you RIGHT click the word, LEFT click Add on the shortcut menu.)

This tip is from my book, Taming Your Computer -- Beyond the Basics, on the page called Using the Right (Not Left) Mouse Button. This page also explains other uses for the right mouse button. If you don't already have this book, it's on sale on my website -- $15 (including shipping) instead of the usual $19 Click here to check it out on my website.

If you'd rather not use your credit card online to order the book, click here to print an order form that you can mail with your check.

About Me

My photo
I love teaching senior citizens to use computers. I'm a senior myself, so I'm working with my peers. When I work with you in your home on your computer, I don't sit in front of your computer and TELL you want to do. You sit in front of your computer while I TEACH you what to do. I also write step-by-step instructions for you to follow when I'm not there.
