Greetings! Today's Rocky Mountain News carried an article in the business section comparing the cost and speed of dial-up versus high-speed Internet connections. Click here to read the article. If you have a copy of the newspaper, it's on page one of the business section. The print version includes a table at the bottom of the page that shows the comparison between dial- up, wireless broadband, DSL and cable giving actual times to download various types of files. For example, if you have a dial-up connection, it would take 42 HOURS to download a movie. By contrast, it would take 18-23 minutes if you had the superfast DSL or cable. You can see a comparison of price in both the printed copy as well as the online article.
There is a common misconception that by adding high speed to your computer, your computer and all of the programs installed on the computer will run faster. This is not true. High speed ONLY affects your Internet speed - - e-mail and web browsing.
