| Where did I save that document? Never lose another document! |
| Have you ever created a document in Microsoft Word and carefully saved it -- somewhere? The next time you looked for that document you had no idea where it was on your hard drive. Let me show you a simple way to leave a trail of crumbs so you can always find your documents. It's really very simple. First create and save your document. Now LEFT click View on the Menu Bar at the top of your screen. LEFT click Header and Footer. A nifty little toolbar will pop up on your screen. The fourth button from the right on this toolbar looks like a small page with a yellow block on the top and bottom. When you hold your cursor over this button a little box will pop up saying Switch Between Header and Footer. Click this button to place your cursor in the footer of your document (at the bottom of the page). LEFT click Insert Auto Text. There are many options to choose from in the dropdown list. I like to use Filename and Path. This will insert the name of your document and its location on your hard drive into the footer. It will appear on every page of the document. It might look something like this: C:/MyDocuments/Letter to Mom. Do you have friends or family who would find this tip helpful?
